Madrid, Spain - November 21st 2024 - The match schedule for the Hexagon Cup 2025 has been revealed, marking the return of professional padel’s most innovative and exciting tournament. With all eight teams confirmed, the draw has set the stage for thrilling world-class matches from the very first serve.
Three Pairs, Next Gen Innovation
As with the inaugural edition, each team features three pairs: one male, one female, and one Next Gen pair. This year, however, the Next Gen category will spotlight young female talent, reinforcing the Hexagon Cup’s commitment to the future of world padel. These rising stars, destined to shape the sport in the coming years, will compete alongside and against the best, gaining invaluable experience and exposure on one of padel’s grandest stages.
A New Format to Elevate the Action
The Hexagon Cup is growing and evolving. For its second edition, the tournament adopts a league format with finals on Sunday, guaranteeing non-stop action until the very end. Over the first four days of competition, each team will play eight matches: three men’s, three women’s, and two Next Gen. Victories in the men’s and women’s categories earn two points, while Next Gen wins add one point. The two teams with the highest points will advance to a Sunday final, played in a best-of-three format. The third and fourth-ranked teams will also compete in a playoff for the final podium spot. This exciting new system ensures that every match counts and promises edge-of-your-seat moments throughout the week. Matchups were determined via a pure draw, adding an extra layer of unpredictability.
The Matches: Blockbuster Action from Day One
The competition begins on Wednesday, 29 January, with games across two venues: Next Gen matches at the Crystal Pavilion and men’s and women’s matches at the Madrid Arena. The finals will take place on Sunday, 2 February, deciding the champions and the complete podium lineup.
Day one is already a spectacle, featuring marquee matches with the world’s top-ranked players:
Arturo Coello of Team Bella Puerto Rico teams up with Coki Nieto to face Mike Yanguas and Javi Garrido of 10 Padel.
In a clash of former World Number Ones, Ariana Sánchez and Lucía Sainz (RL9 Team) take on Martita Ortegaand Gemma Triay (Rafa Nadal Academy Team powered by Richard Mille) in what promises to be a brutal battle.
Paula Josemaría (ElevenEleven) partners with last year’s breakout star Alejandra Alonso against defending champions Delfi Brea and Sofía Araujo (AD/Vantage), two players in blistering form.
Agustín Tapia and Jon Sanz (RL9 Team) debut against Paquito Navarro and Alex Chozas (Hexagon Team) in a showcase of experience versus flair.
Additionally, reigning champions Martín di Nenno and Juan Tello (AD/Vantage) will face Fede Chingotto and Momo González (Krü Padel), representing the team backed by Sergio Agüero and Leo Messi. And this is only the beginning.
Sergio Lewin, Operations and Sporting Managing Director of the Hexagon Cup expressed excitement for this year’s edition: "In sporting terms, the Hexagon Cup is unmatched. It is an event with a groundbreaking and innovative format in the world of racket sports, allowing us to witness truly exceptional matches from day one. We are especially excited about the introduction of the Women’s Next Gen category. In a few years, we’ll be able to say that we saw these players compete here first, which is always a great source of pride. Last year, for instance, Alex Chozas played in the Men’s Next Gen category, and this year he’s a world champion. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the stars of this sport grow and shine.”
