SIX COVERED PADEL COURTS TO OPEN AT THRIVING ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT SPORTS ASSOCIATION
Royal Wootton Bassett, Wednesday 21 January 2026: One of the UK’s fastest-growing padel club operators, Pure Padel, has been granted planning permission for a brand-new premium club in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.
The venue will be located at the voluntary-run Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Association (RWBSA), one of the area’s leading multi-sport facilities and forms part of Pure Padel’s continued expansion across the UK.
The development will deliver six covered padel courts, alongside a clubhouse featuring a pro shop, food and beverage offering, and dedicated social spaces. Construction is due to begin in April, with the club expected to open in mid-summer, providing year-round access to the rapidly growing sport.
RWBSA is already a thriving sports hub, offering facilities for football, tennis, cricket, running and pétanque. The introduction of padel will further enhance the site’s appeal as a modern, all-year sports destination serving both members and the wider community.
The announcement comes during a strong week of expansion for Pure Padel, following a planning application submitted for a new club in Coulsdon on Monday and the unveiling of plans for a Liverpool site on Tuesday.
Royal Wootton Bassett’s strong local participation, established membership base, and accessibility were key factors in the decision. Located close to Swindon and just off the M4, the site is well positioned to serve players from across Wiltshire and beyond.
Sammy Arora, Founder and Managing Director of Pure Padel, said:
“We’re really excited to have secured planning permission for Royal Wootton Bassett. RWBSA is already a brilliant, well-established sports club with a strong and active community, which made it a very natural fit for Pure Padel. By introducing covered courts, we’re able to offer year-round play and add a completely new dimension to an already impressive sporting environment. The site’s accessibility from Swindon and its immediate proximity to the M4 also makes it an ideal location to serve Wiltshire and the surrounding areas.”

Pure Padel operates a pay-to-play model, with courts bookable via the Playtomic app and no membership fees, lowering barriers to entry and allowing players to take part as frequently or flexibly as they choose.
Paul Harrison, Trustee of Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Association, added:
“When Pure Padel approached us, it immediately felt like the perfect opportunity to build on what is already a thriving sports club. The addition of padel allows us to broaden our offer and move closer to becoming a truly holistic sports venue. Pure Padel’s premium approach, with its focus on customer experience and hospitality as well as high-quality facilities, aligned extremely well with our own values. We’re excited to see this development come to life and the benefits it will bring to both our members and the wider community.”

Pure Padel has become a major presence in UK padel since opening its first club at Alderley Park in October 2023. The company has since launched its flagship indoor club in Manchester city centre, followed by sites in Darlington, Stockport, North Leeds and Nottingham. Construction is currently underway at upcoming clubs in Lightwater, Solihull and Glasgow.
By the end of 2026, Pure Padel’s growth is expected to see it established as one of the UK’s largest padel operators, with planning approved or progressing for additional locations including Birmingham city centre, Gosforth, York, Coulsdon and Liverpool.
Highly experienced and qualified LTA coaches will be available at the Royal Wootton Bassett club, supporting players of all abilities from beginners through to advanced level.
Pure Padel is backed by an experienced non-executive board spanning retail, property, finance and law, alongside a range of investment partners.
