55,000-square-foot flagship facility near downtown Toronto to host official Grand Opening on May 15
Toronto, ON — May 11, 2026 — Toronto’s fast-evolving sports and social landscape is entering a new phase with The District Padel & Pickleball Club, a 55,000-square-foot flagship facility located just minutes from downtown Toronto. Following an initial opening and community preview on March 28, the club will officially celebrate its Grand Opening on May 15, marking its full arrival as a premium, design-forward destination for racquet sports and social connection.
As interest in racquet sports accelerates globally, recent data from Playtomic’s Global Padel Report shows that a new padel club is opening every 2.5 hours worldwide. The District arrives at a pivotal moment for the greater Toronto area as it expands access to the sport, while introducing a more experience-driven model that blends competition, community and lifestyle.
The club features eight indoor padel courts and seven indoor pickleball courts within a striking, open-concept space defined by 38-foot ceilings and a refined, contemporary aesthetic. Off-court, members have access to premium locker and shower facilities, a curated pro shop and a cafe offering coffee and snacks, with a licensed alcoholic beverage program set to launch this summer.
More than a place to play, The District is a social hub for Toronto’s active and culturally engaged community, appealing to both experienced players and newcomers discovering padel for the first time.
“Our vision was to create a space that reflects where sport and lifestyle are heading in Toronto,” said The District Padel & Pickleball Club CEO, Luis Ismael Gutiérrez Ureña. “We’re seeing a shift toward experiences that combine competition, wellness and community. The District is built to meet that moment while also helping grow the game of padel at every level.”
A key differentiator for The District is its focus on high-performance development and coaching. The club’s Director of Racquet Sports, Pablo Diaz, leads a team trained under the globally recognized M3 Methodology, developed by M3 Padel Academy. Through an exclusive partnership in the Greater Toronto Area, The District will serve as a central hub for padel coach education and player development, bringing internationally established training standards to the local market.
The District has partnered with All for Padel as the official Adidas Padel & Pickleball distributor in Canada. Programming will include leagues, clinics, and tournaments designed to support both competitive pathways and social play, reflecting the dual appeal that has fuelled padel’s rapid global growth.
The Toronto opening is just the beginning as The District plans to open additional locations in Cancun, Mexico (Winter 2027) and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (Fall 2027), with the brand targeting five clubs across North America by 2028.
The community is invited to the club’s “Grand Opening Event” on May 15 from 12 - 4 p.m. as there will be live music, a padel clinic, pickleball open play and more. For membership inquiries, court bookings or to schedule a tour, please visit thedistrictpadel.com/toronto.
